In a bid to smartly address the issue of sanitation and public health, while upholding the significance of sustainability and recycling, New Town is all set to unveil in phases 9 containerized toilets, which are cargo containers recycled into toilet facilities. This initiative is an innovative extension of the city authorities’ constant effort towards achieving a hygienic and smart public sanitation system in New Town Kolkata.

"Community centres play a vital role in bringing people together by providing the platform/space where they can come together for various social gatherings, celebrations, and other community activities. Two community centres are being built in Action Areas IC and IIB, making it convenient for the residents of New Town to use these for social and community purposes. The community centres are envisioned to be wi-fi enabled, with provision for barrier-free access for people with disability, stretcher-friendly lifts, waste segregation mechanism, and CCTV surveillance for security purpose.

One of its infrastructural interventions is construction of 14.5-kilometre barrier-free pedestrian way, along with cycling track, on Major Arterial Road.
